Ms. Erfanian was arrested by security forces on Sunday, May 1, 1401, during a nationwide teachers' rally in Mashhad.

On Sunday, May 1, coinciding with International Workers' Day and on the eve of Teachers' Week in Iran, working and retired teachers and educators across the country gathered in front of education departments in many cities to protest the failure to address their demands. Meanwhile, teacher gatherings in some cities have been accompanied by violence by the police and the arrest of a number of protesters.
