Nahid Taghavi, a dual-national prisoner, was transferred to the women's ward.

Nahid Taghavi, a German citizen of Iranian descent, was transferred to the women's ward after 151 days in solitary confinement in Evin Prison. Taghavi has not yet been charged, but observers believe that the Islamic Republic government is using her as a hostage.

Maryam Klaren, Nahid Taghavi's daughter, announced in a Twitter message on Wednesday, March 17, that her mother had been transferred to the women's wing of Evin Prison.

Claren wrote that Taqvi told her brother that her transfer to the women's ward was a result of media attention to her situation, as well as efforts made as part of the #freenahid campaign.

According to Ms. Claren, Taqvi's fellow prisoners have given her a warm welcome and informed her of international efforts for her release.

Maryam Klarne emphasized that this is a "first victory," but the effort to secure her mother's immediate and unconditional release will continue.

"Today I am happy that my mother is no longer isolated and can speak with the brave women behind bars," she tweeted.

In her tweet, Maryam Klaren thanked all the media outlets that covered her mother's arrest.

Nahid Taghavi is 66 years old and was arrested at her home in Tehran on October 15. She immigrated to Germany with her family in 1982 and has traveled to Iran many times over the past 15 years.
