Corona in Iran: Shadow of a possible new wave of Corona in the country

According to the announcement on Sunday by the Public Relations and Information Center of the Iranian Ministry of Health, 126 people died from coronavirus in the past 24 hours and 7,554 people were infected with the disease.

This is the official figure, and government agencies had previously said that the real figure was at least twice the official figure. These figures show a slight increase compared to the previous day, indicating continued fluctuations in the number of coronavirus cases in the country.

Health officials and experts have previously warned that the fluctuating coronavirus statistics in recent days and weeks are similar to the trend of the virus pandemic before the peak of the fifth deadly wave in August and September.

Given the decline in compliance with health protocols, the onset of a new peak is not far-fetched.

Tasnim News Agency quoted these experts as saying that the significant decrease in public participation in observing health protocols, as well as the significant change in the color scheme of cities in terms of coronavirus conditions, could lead to major concerns about reducing the costs of the next courier. Apparently, government officials have considered the smart quarantine plan to prevent these concerns, which is scheduled to be officially activated from the beginning of Azar 1400.

According to Tasnim, one of the first steps could be to impose restrictions on services for people who have not been vaccinated against the coronavirus or do not have a negative test certificate, for example, in the public transportation system, in order to reduce the movement of high-risk people and prevent and prepare the ground for a more active fight against the virus.

Many countries have created apps to monitor infected people, red zones, and high-risk areas, but such measures have not been taken in Iran.

The Islamic Republic's authorities have been criticized by the public over the past year. A year ago, Ayatollah Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Republic, banned the import of Western vaccines, but after ten months he changed his position and said that it was okay if these vaccines were imported from other countries. Some critics say that the delay in vaccination has led to the deaths of several thousand people in Iran.

While the possibility of a new wave of coronavirus in Iran has caused concern, Iranian media are reporting that schools and universities will reopen in person starting December 1.

This is while the number of coronavirus red cities in Iran is increasing.

According to the Ministry of Health, 33 cities in the country are currently in red status, 95 cities in orange status, 220 cities in yellow status, and 100 cities in blue status.
