One of the attackers of the Hormozgani environmentalist "committed suicide"

The commander of the Environmental Protection Unit announced the "suicide" of one of the attackers of the Hormozgan environmentalist, with whom he was related.
On Tuesday night, in a clash between Mohammad Hassannejad, a Hormozgani ranger, and hunters in the Ermak region of the province, two hunters shot the ranger dead with live ammunition and fled.
As Jamshid Mohabbatkhani, commander of the Environmental Protection Unit, told IRNA, the first attacker was immediately arrested and the second attacker managed to escape from the police officers.
According to Mr. Mohabbatkhani, the second attacker, who committed suicide with a gun, was the niece of the murdered environmentalist.
He added that the second attacker "did not know at the time of the fight that the ranger was his uncle, but when he realized that he had killed his uncle, he attempted suicide."
As IRNA wrote: Environmentalist Hassannejad has 23 years of experience in this field and was selected as a model environmentalist for two years.
Rangers are those who are responsible for protecting animals, especially from poachers, in protected areas and forests.
In the past three decades, at least 119 rangers in Iran have been killed and nearly 370 injured in clashes with poachers.
