“73 percent” of Iranian medical staff and “60 percent” of academics seeking emigration

The latest report from Iran’s Migration Observatory shows that 73 percent of Iranian doctors and nurses and nearly 60 percent of Iranian university professors and students are inclined to emigrate.According to this institution’s data, 59 percent of students and 69 percent of Iranian professors and researchers are seeking to emigrate from Iran due to “economic issues.”
These professional groups have cited “country’s problems” as the main reason for their migration inclination.
According to the report, 63 percent of doctors and nurses and 51 percent of students have also identified “effects of sanctions” as the most important factor driving their migration aspirations.
The Migration Observatory’s 2021 report shows that economic and job-related migrations have become the most significant type of emigration for Iranians.
Based on this report, many migrations that occur in formats other than education or asylum also have economic reasons or backgrounds.
Previously, the Khabar Online website, by examining statistics from the Islamic Republic’s Passport Office, reported on Iran’s rank of 19 in “student sending” to other countries and the more than two-fold increase in the population of Iranian emigrants over the past 30 years.
