Iran’s Judiciary Tried and Executed Two Prisoners for ‘Muharbeh’ in ‘Shortest Time’ Possible

Iran’s Judiciary announced that it has executed two prisoners who were tried in “the shortest time” possible, on charges of setting fire to the “Darre Garm” gas station in Khorramabad.
According to Iranian media reports, Mohammad Razm, the chief prosecutor of Lorestan, said on Wednesday, December 22, that these two individuals set fire to the gas station on May 7, 2018, and were “identified and arrested” by “security forces” in Lorestan.
Razm, citing “interrogations,” claimed that the two individuals “intended” to carry out “operations” to “create widespread insecurity across the province.”
Javaid Rahman, the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in Iran, stated in his latest report to the UN General Assembly’s Third Committee that some sentences issued in Iran, including death sentences, have been handed down based on forced confessions and confessions obtained under torture and have not been issued on the basis of justice.
Iran’s Human Rights Organization, citing previous reports, identified the executed individuals as “Jahanbakhsh Abbasi” and “Mehran Naghdi.”
The chief prosecutor of Lorestan on December 16, 2019, introduced two detained individuals in connection with the Khorramabad gas station explosion as “dismissed military personnel who had been bought back.”
Islamic Revolutionary Courts handle charges of “corruption on earth” and “muharbeh” (waging war against God), which are applied to a large number of crimes and carry the death penalty under Iranian law.
