Carbon Monoxide Poisoning in Nomadic Travelers’ Tents; 495 Poisoned, 17 Dead

Iran’s Emergency Organization announced that over a five-day period, from March 15 to March 21 of this year, 495 people were poisoned due to carbon monoxide exposure, with 17 of them dying.

According to reports, the carbon monoxide poisonings occurred as a result of using unsafe heating devices in travelers’ tents.

Mojtaba Khaldi, the spokesman for the Emergency Organization, warned Nowruz travelers on Wednesday, March 23, to be careful about carbon monoxide gas spreading in their travel tents.

ISNA also reported, citing Timur Hosseini, the deputy chief of traffic police, that from March 16 until the morning of March 22, 247 people died as a result of 187 traffic accidents on Iranian roads.

According to him, coinciding with Nowruz, road traffic in Iran increased by 38 percent compared to the same period last year.
