Eight-Year Prison Sentence, Lashing, and Social Deprivation Order Delivered to Narges Mohammadi in Prison

Tagi Rahmani, political activist and husband of Narges Mohammadi, a human rights activist, announced via a Twitter message that a final sentence of eight years and two months imprisonment, lashing, and social deprivation has been delivered to Ms. Mohammadi at Qarchak Prison in Varamin.
Ms. Mohammadi had previously been transferred from Qarchak Prison in Varamin to a hospital due to difficulty breathing. According to Mr. Rahmani, his wife was returned to prison on the 30th of Bahman without completing her recovery period, while one of her coronary arteries is blocked.
Mr. Rahmani wrote that “Qarchak is not a prison, it is a torture chamber” and the transfer of his wife there is an act of retaliation.
Narges Mohammadi, a human rights activist, was transferred to Qarchak Prison in Varamin on the 29th of Dey, following two months of interrogation and detention in solitary cells at the detention facility of the Ministry of Intelligence, known as Ward 209 of Evin Prison.
