Retired Teachers Gather Again in Tehran

A group of retired teachers held a protest gathering on Wednesday, April 24th in front of the Ministry of Education and Training.

These retirees organized the gathering in protest of their unaddressed demands, holding handwritten notes and placards calling for their pensions and retirement benefits.

Earlier, in late 2018, teachers had held several gatherings to protest the failure to address their requests.

Among these demands was the provision of retirees’ share from the value-added funds of the Teachers’ Pension Fund.

Following rising prices and poor economic conditions in Iran, protests by various sectors have increased significantly in recent months. However, these protests have sometimes been met with confrontation by security and military forces.
