Al-Jubeir: Assad Regime Committed War Crimes in Aleppo

Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir accused the Assad regime on Sunday, May 1, of committing war crimes against the people of Aleppo in his remarks.

The city of Aleppo, located in northern Syria, has been brutally bombed by Assad’s fighter jets despite a ceasefire agreement over the past 9 days.

Al-Jubeir said during a press conference that what is being done in Aleppo by the Assad regime and its allies constitutes a war crime against humanity.

Saudi Arabia’s foreign minister traveled to Geneva on Sunday afternoon to meet with his counterpart John Kerry.

Al-Jubeir and Kerry are set to discuss the ceasefire situation and peace talks with representatives of Syrian opposition groups.

This comes as the city of Aleppo witnessed a relative calm during the past 24 hours.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the bombardment of Aleppo, which began on April 22, resulted in the deaths of 253 people, including 49 children.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, most of the victims were killed as a result of massive explosions from incendiary barrel bombs dropped by Assad’s fighter jets against residential areas.
