Assault Followed by Congregational Prayer by Interrogators

A recently released letter from a detained protester reveals allegations of assault followed by congregational prayer.

Mohammad Moghimi, one of the first-class bar association lawyers, has published a letter on social media platforms written by a protester who is currently hospitalized.

Moghimi published the letter bearing the letterhead of a hospital under the supervision of Iran University of Medical Sciences, stating: This individual was subjected to assault by interrogators during his detention. Now hospitalized, the broadcast of the call to prayer triggers traumatic memories of the assault for him. The practice of interrogators performing congregational prayers following the assault causes him distress when hearing the call to prayer.

This protester has requested the hospital director to turn off the loudspeakers broadcasting the call to prayer, but his request was not granted.

The hospitalized individual wrote: “I, the patient in the Mehr ward, have suffered trauma due to torture resulting from my participation in recent gatherings, and the sound of the call to prayer triggers memories of being stripped naked in the presence of 3 men and…”

These acts of torture by the Islamic Republic government, in addition to their severe physical consequences, inflict severe psychological and mental effects on detained protesters. Irreparable consequences that break the heart of any human being.
