Details of Violent Arrest and Threats Against Sepideh Qolian and Her Brother, According to the Civil Activist’s Father

The father of Sepideh Qolian, an Iranian civil activist, says that agents of the Islamic Republic’s Ministry of Intelligence arrested Sepideh and her brother with extreme violence and told them they would never see them again.

Sepideh Qolian’s father explained in an interview with Masih Alinejad that Ministry of Intelligence agents entered their home in the city of Shush without a warrant, and when Sepideh’s father and brother attempted to prevent their entry, they were severely beaten.

According to him, the agents severely beat Sepideh’s brother, who suffers from diabetes, and threw him into the trunk of a car with handcuffs and leg shackles. They also injured the throat of Sepideh’s mother, who was screaming while trying to call for help from neighbors.

Sepideh Qolian, who had been arrested along with protesting workers from Haft Tappeh Sugar Cane Complex, was released on bail of 500 million tomans. However, recently on social media she revealed information about the torture she and Esmail Bakhshi endured during their detention and protested against the broadcast of forced confessions by the Islamic Republic’s state media.

According to the civil activist’s father, Sepideh Qolian continues to suffer from the effects of torture from her recent arrest, and given the repeated threats made by agents regarding the death of his daughter, the family is deeply concerned for her safety.
