Explosion at Cafe Restaurant in Tehran Kills Eight People

The CEO of Tehran Red Crescent confirmed news of an explosion at a cafe in Shahriyar city, announcing that 8 people were killed in the incident. The cause apparently was the explosion of a helium balloon during a birthday celebration.

According to Shahin Fathi, CEO of the Red Crescent Organization of Tehran Province, 8 people were killed in an explosion at a restaurant in Shahriyar city.

The explosion occurred in the evening of Tuesday, June 15th, and news of it quickly spread on social networks.

Later, Mojtaba Khaldi, spokesperson for the National Emergency Services, told ISNA news agency that emergency services information indicates that seven people, including three children aged 3 to 6 years old, three women aged 20 to 40 years old, and one man approximately 50 years old, lost their lives.

Based on preliminary reports, he attributed the cause of the accident to the explosion of a helium balloon at a birthday celebration in a cafe located in a basement.
