Fifty Hours of Prayer for Peace in the Middle East

Coinciding with the signing of a ceasefire agreement, Christian believers from Lebanon and around the world gathered at the “House of Prayer Beirut” to pray for peace.

As political leaders in Egypt signed a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, a group of Christian believers in Beirut sought a spiritual path to peace in the Middle East through prayer and worship. This gathering, held from October 9-11, 2025 at the “House of Prayer Beirut,” was part of an international 50-hour prayer initiative that had been planned months in advance.

The ceasefire agreement includes the release of hostages, the partial withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, and the release of Palestinian prisoners—an agreement that has revived hopes for an end to the two-year war. However, many remain skeptical about its durability.

“Nona” from the Christian organization Triumphant Mercy Lebanon cautiously stated in an interview with MNN Online: “I am not sure that this agreement will remain stable in the Middle East. It seems to me this is a fragile peace, but at least for a time it brings relative calm.”

She explained the prayer event: “Believers take turns in prayer and worship, asking God for help to reveal His will not only for this country, but for the entire Middle East.”

Nona also added: “This is a critical time for Syria, Turkey, Jordan, Lebanon, the Palestinians, Egypt, and all these regions. We bring our hearts before God and ask Him to shed His will and the light of His greatness among these peoples.”

Referring to the difficult conditions of the region’s people, she said: “Many people are discouraged, skeptical, faithless, and despairing. Many feel it would be better to leave here; therefore, praying at this time is very important.”

Finally, Nona spoke with deep hope: “Jesus Christ will return and will come to this region. This region is very dear to Him; whether it is Israel, Lebanon, or the entire Middle East.”

While the ceasefire keeps a fragile yet vital hope alive in the Middle East, the “House of Prayer Beirut” gathering symbolizes the spiritual unity of believers from different nations. In the midst of war and despair, they repeated a simple yet profound message: “True peace begins in the hearts of those who pray and in the presence of God.”
