Gas Condensate Pipeline Explosion in Fars Province

A 10-inch gas condensate pipeline at the Parsian refinery in Khouzi city, Varavari district of Mehr county, has exploded.
Alameddar Babaei, CEO of Parsian Gas Refinery, reported on Thursday evening, December 9, in an interview with IRIB news agency, that the 10-inch gas condensate pipeline of the refinery exploded as a result of a bulldozer collision with it.
This pipeline daily transfers 32,000 barrels (nearly 12 million barrels annually, valued at $900 million) of gas condensate produced from onshore gas fields in southwestern Iran to the Assaluyeh region.
Babaei further stated that this incident resulted in no casualties and emergency and operational forces are currently present at the scene of the accident, having cut off the transmission line from its source.
According to the report, the bulldozer was creating a path for the implementation of a second gas condensate transmission line, which caused damage to the pipeline and led to its explosion.
Prior to U.S. sanctions, South Korea and Japan were the main customers of gas condensate produced from the Parsian refinery.
Currently, China is the only customer of Iran’s gas condensate. Iran has also exchanged several shipments of gas condensate with Venezuelan heavy oil in recent months.
The Parsian refinery processes more than 8 percent of the country’s gas and 5 percent of gas condensate production.
