20 Percent of Iran’s Population Suffers from Mental Disorders

The Deputy Minister of Health at the Ministry of Health, Treatment and Medical Education stated: On average, we expect between 18 to 22 percent of the population in each region to suffer from one of the mental disorders such as depression or anxiety, which are identified through active screening based on the national program and are placed under care. Of course, these statistics vary for each mental disorder and in different locations.
He said: The method of identifying individuals with mental disorders is that people who visit health centers to receive any type of service are examined in terms of their mental health status.
