Human Rights Sources Report Killing of Porter by Direct Fire from Iranian Border Guards

According to reports from human rights sources, border guard forces opened fire on a number of porters in the “Marivan border heights,” during which one porter was killed.
The “Hengow” website, which publishes human rights news, identified the killed porter as Sirwan Golzari from the village of Joshni Abad, and reported that on Wednesday, September 7, he lost his life when border guard forces fired at a group of porters in the Marivan border heights.

According to multiple reports, border forces in Iran have repeatedly targeted porters with deadly gunfire. Many have turned to porter smuggling due to poor economic conditions in Iran.
