Invitation Extended to Female Students from Gaza to Study in Iran

The Vice President for Women’s Affairs announced scholarship opportunities for female students from Gaza to pursue their education in Iran.

Ansieh Khazaeli, Vice President under Ibrahim Raisi, announced yesterday on Monday, November 22, during the first international conference of Iranian women as civilization-building architects in the translation movement, in the presence of scholars from 15 countries worldwide with Hamadan Province hosting the conference, welcomed female students from Gaza to study in Iran while referring to the status of women in Islam.

She stated at the conference: “The status that Islam has granted to women, family, and the preservation of family values represents a responsibility placed upon us, and if this family, the good life, martyrs, and the works whose translations you are witnessing did not exist, and if these beauties had not been portrayed, in the face of the injustice you see in Palestine, these greatnesses, purities, and sacrifices for humanity deserve to be celebrated and appreciated.”

She also announced Iran’s approval to provide scholarships to Gaza students at the conference and added: “We will scholarship three Gaza students, and universities should continue this process in order and welcome female students from Gaza so they come and study here. As we announced previously, we also support Afghan students and will welcome these individuals in universities, particularly those dedicated to women.”

Her remarks regarding scholarships for students from Gaza and Afghanistan come at a time when Iran’s Statistical Center had reported at the beginning of the current year that 556,000 students had dropped out of education before entering secondary school for various reasons, with poverty and deprivation being the primary factors forcing them to abandon their studies. Additionally, the Deputy Minister of Primary Education of the Ministry of Education had reported that 160,000 primary school students remained out of school during the 2022-2023 academic year. However, the Islamic Republic of Iran’s system, despite the fact that Iranian students remain out of school with many having been forced to drop out of schools for economic reasons, has proceeded to accept students from Gaza and provide them with scholarships.
