Man Whose Child Abuse Video Sparked Outrage Arrested
Following widespread re-sharing of a video on social media containing sexual child abuse by an Instagram user, the head of Tehran’s cyber police announced the arrest of this man on charges of disturbing public opinion and child abuse.
The arrested individual, named Sorush Khonani on Instagram, had posted a video on his account in which he asks two child laborers (fortune tellers) on the street to expose his genitals and uses this act as a source of entertainment.
Davoud Moazzami Goodarzi, head of the cyber police, announced on Monday, November 7, without naming the defendant, that after his arrest, he was sent to prison following the issuance of a conviction order.
The publication of this video sparked negative and angry reactions from a significant number of social media users. The defendant immediately deleted it from his page after the incident became controversial and posted an apology video.
