Joint Naval Drill of Iran, China and Russia Begins

Iran, China and Russia began their joint naval exercise on Friday, January 21st in the Indian Ocean. The drill will last for three days.
French news agency reported that on Friday, January 21st (1st of Bahman), the joint naval exercise of Iran, Russia and China began in the waters of the Indian Ocean.
According to this report, Tehran announced that 11 units of the Navy and three units of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy are participating in this exercise. Additionally, three units from Russia and two units of China’s Navy are also participating in this three-day drill.
The exercise is being held in an area covering 17 thousand square kilometers. At the end of 2019, these three countries also held another joint naval exercise in the Gulf of Oman and the Indian Ocean.
Rear Admiral Mostafa Tajoldini, spokesman for the exercise, told Mehr News Agency that this is the third joint exercise held with the presence of Iran, China and Russia, and will continue in the future. This military commander stated the message of this exercise as “peace and friendship.”
The joint exercise of Iran, Russia and China is being held while Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi is visiting Russia. Meanwhile, China and Russia, along with Germany, Britain and France are in talks with Iran in Vienna to return to the nuclear agreement JCPOA.
