Majid Reza Suzanchi, a Christian, Released from Tehran’s Greater Prison

Majid Reza (David) Suzanchi Kashani, a Christian, was released on leave from Tehran’s Greater Prison on Thursday, April 9th. With the completion of Mr. Kashani’s leave period, he will not return to prison. Majid Reza Suzanchi Kashani was sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment by Tehran’s Revolutionary Court in 2018, and this sentence was reduced to 2 years of imprisonment by the Tehran Province Court of Appeals in December of the same year.
According to Hrana news agency, citing Mohabbat News, on Thursday, April 9th, 2021, Majid Suzanchi Kashani, a Christian, was released on leave from Tehran’s Greater Prison.
In this report, Mr. Suzanchi Kashani stated: “Given the duration of this leave period, I will not return to prison, and in fact this leave constitutes my release and the end of my sentence.”
“Majid Reza (David) Suzanchi Kashani” was arrested on November 18, 2017, at the residence of a Christian in the Tehranpars area of Tehran by agents of the Ministry of Intelligence and was subsequently transferred to Ward 209 of Evin Prison.
During interrogation, he was beaten twice by Ministry of Intelligence agents, and his ribs were broken.
According to this report, Majid Reza Suzanchi Kashani was deprived of access to a lawyer during the interrogation period.
This Christian was tried twice by Branch 26 of Tehran’s Revolutionary Court on April 24, 2018, and previously on April 8, 2018, and was sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment on charges of “membership in missionary groups” and “missionary activities.”
This sentence was reduced to 2 years of imprisonment by Branch 54 of the Tehran Province Court of Appeals on December 11, 2018. He was subsequently transferred to Tehran’s Greater Prison to serve his sentence.
