Masoud Dehnamaki: One Cannot Achieve Hijab Through Banners and Billboards

Masoud Dehnamaki, in response to mandatory hijab, said that one cannot achieve hijab through banners and billboards.

In recent days and weeks, a large number of women have been harassed and persecuted by morality police for not observing mandatory hijab. Many recreational centers, restaurants, cafes, and other establishments have even been sealed off due to the failure to observe mandatory hijab in these places.

Many reactions regarding the enforcement of mandatory hijab by various individuals were published on social media. Additionally, legal cases have been reopened against celebrities who appeared in public places without mandatory hijab, and penalties have been imposed on them.

Masoud Dehnamaki, a screenwriter and film director, also reacted to mandatory hijab and the installation of banners promoting hijab across various cities in the country. On his Twitter page, he wrote: “For forty years, they did not conduct any cultural work regarding hijab and modesty, and now that they want to work out of necessity, they have chosen the methods of forty years ago. Nowadays, one cannot achieve hijab through banners and billboards, whether attributed to the Infallible or Western thinkers. The problem is that they are still addressing the symptom, not the cause.”

Pedram Karimi, a Radio and Television presenter, also provided explanations on his personal page regarding these advertising billboards and the widespread installation of these banners. The text of these explanations can be seen in the image below.

There have been many other reactions from the public regarding the promotion of hijab by government forces. Issues of poverty, addiction, weak economy, unemployment, corruption, and other societal problems have been set aside, while the issue of hijab has been prioritized and is being pursued with intensity by the system. Varying enforcement actions and penalties have been imposed on those who do not comply with mandatory hijab laws.
