Rashid Naserzadeh Released from Ashnuyeh Prison

On Wednesday, September 7, Rashid Naserzadeh, a journalist and environmental activist, was released from Ashnuyeh Prison with an electronic ankle monitor and will serve the remainder of his sentence outside prison. He was previously sentenced by Ashnuyeh Criminal Court to six years imprisonment, and the sentence was reduced to 18 months imprisonment on appeal.
According to Hrana news agency, citing Kurdpa, on Wednesday, September 7, 1399 (September 28, 2020), Rashid Naserzadeh, a journalist and environmental activist, was released from Ashnuyeh Prison.
His release from prison was conditional on wearing an electronic ankle monitor, through which he will complete the remainder of his sentence outside of prison.
Rashid Naserzadeh was previously arrested on December 3, 1398 (December 24, 2019), while returning from Iraq on the Piranshahr-Ashnuyeh road by the Ashnuyeh Intelligence Department forces. After 45 days, he was temporarily released on January 16 upon posting a bail of 200 million tomans.
On Thursday, March 28, 1399, in the first instance court, he was sentenced to five years imprisonment on charges of “assembly and collusion to commit crimes against national security” and to one year imprisonment on charges of “propaganda against the system.” This sentence was reduced to 18 months imprisonment in the appellate court.
