Report on the Latest Status of Those Detained During Isfahan’s Black Friday

The suppression of protest gatherings by Isfahan’s farmers and citizens supporting their demands resulted in the arrest of at least 214 citizens. Despite ten days having passed since the detention of Isfahan’s protesters, an unknown number remain in custody. Additionally, there is no available information regarding the status of women and children arrested during the protests.
According to a report by Hrana news agency, the news organ of the Iranian human rights activists network, today, Monday, December 6, 2021, despite ten days having passed since the detention of Isfahan’s protesters, an unknown number remain in custody.
The suppression of protest gatherings by Isfahan’s farmers and citizens supporting their demands resulted in the arrest of at least 214 citizens. Furthermore, some of those present at the protest gatherings, residents of Khorasgan village and Isfahan province such as Hermoz Basri from one of the eastern villages of Isfahan, were later summoned and arrested by security institutions, while several others were released after their mobile phones were confiscated. There is also no available information regarding the status of women and children arrested during the protests.
It is reported that a number of individuals were formally asked to sign a commitment not to leave their homes on last Friday.
This comes as yesterday Asadollah Jafari, Chief Justice of Isfahan Province, announced the issuance of temporary release orders for several detainees from the recent Isfahan protests. He also added in this regard: “Cases have been filed for the detainees, and as we promised the people, we have established special divisions to handle these cases in the central province’s prosecutor’s office.”
The protest gatherings of Isfahan’s farmers and citizens supporting their demands began on Sunday, November 7, and on Friday, December 3, escalated into violence with the extensive presence of police and security forces to end the gathering. Hrana previously reported comprehensively on the entry of police and security forces accompanied by beatings and shooting at protesters, and the arrest of at least 214 people including 13 children, as well as the injury of a number of citizens from gunfire by police and security forces.
