Reuters: Iranian cargo ship arrives at Venezuelan port

Reuters reported the arrival of an Iranian cargo ship at a port in Venezuela, stating that the ship’s cargo contents are still unknown. According to data from a maritime tracking institution, the ship left Iran in late November.

Reuters, citing data from the maritime tracking institution “Refinitiv Eikon,” reported that an Iranian cargo ship arrived at the “La Guaira” port in Venezuela on Thursday, December 18 (January 7), a move that is considered a continuation of commercial relations between Iran and Venezuela in countering American sanctions.

Iran is seeking to assist Venezuela, which is facing fuel shortages, obsolete refineries, and American sanctions, by delivering gasoline to the country. The Islamic Republic has also helped the Nicolas Maduro government in Venezuela by delivering food via ship.

Reuters, relying on data from the “Refinitiv Eikon” institution, wrote that the cargo ship “Golsan,” belonging to the shipping company “Makhtar Daria,” left Iran in late November.

According to this news agency, the cargo of this ship is currently unknown.

The Golsan ship transported food supplies to Venezuela in July for delivery to the first Iranian supermarket. The ship later returned to Iran with aluminum ore.

Iran and Venezuela, both OPEC members, expanded their commercial relations last year in parallel with the intensification of American sanctions. Both countries, due to American sanctions, not only face problems in oil sales, but many insurance companies, oil tankers, and maritime service companies are also shunning cooperation with them because of these sanctions.
