Syrian Human Rights Watch: Seven Years of War, 511,000 Deaths in Syria

Syrian Human Rights Watch, based in Britain, announced that more than half a million people have been killed during Syria’s internal war.

The organization, composed of Syrian activists that tracks Syrian casualties, said on Monday, March 12, that 511,000 people have been killed since the Syrian internal conflict began seven years ago.

Syrian Human Rights Watch says it has identified the identities and names of more than 350,000 of the victims.

Conflict in Syria began following widespread popular protests on March 15, 2011, and after some time, regional and international powers were also drawn into it. Millions of people have been displaced in the Syrian war.

Syrian Human Rights Watch says more than 85 percent of the deaths comprise civilians who were killed by the forces of Bashar al-Assad, Syria’s president, and his allies.
