White House Responds to Animation on Khamenei’s Website: We Have Previously Witnessed Insulting Rhetoric and Behavior by Iran’s Leader

The White House spokesperson said on Thursday, December 23, in a press conference, in response to a question about an animation published on Ali Khamenei’s website depicting an Iranian assassination attempt against former U.S. President Donald Trump and whether the American intelligence community is assessing such potential threats, that we have previously witnessed rhetoric and insulting behavior by Iran’s leader.

The official website of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Republic, has published an animation depicting an Iranian assassination operation against Donald Trump, the former U.S. president, and attempts to assassinate him.

In this short animation, hacking operations and drone attacks on Mr. Trump’s residence in Florida are depicted.

The news of the publication of this animation has been covered by several major media outlets worldwide, including the Associated Press and the Times of Israel.

Senior Republican Senator Lindsey Graham wrote in a Twitter thread earlier on Thursday, “I can’t believe a video produced under the direction of Iran’s Ayatollah is openly threatening to kill President Trump and has gone unanswered by the Biden administration. This must be corrected immediately.”

He added, “The appropriate response in my view is to suspend all negotiations with the Iranians because of this disrespect. If we don’t do this, the Iranians and everyone else in the region will view this as a blatant sign of our weakness.”

Randi Jackson, a Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives, also raised in a tweet the question of how these individuals are allowed to operate on social media, while Donald Trump is not.

Jim Banks, another Republican congressman, previously criticized the Biden administration in a Twitter message for continuing to negotiate with Iran and called on it to immediately suspend negotiations with the Islamic Republic.
