Teachers' Union emphasizes union demands and release of imprisoned teachers: Teachers' rights are being trampled on by rulers

The Coordination Council of Iranian Teachers' Unions issued a statement on the occasion of Teacher's Day, announcing that it would press for the demands of educators, including the release and acquittal of imprisoned teachers.
The council's statement, published on Friday, May 2, referred to the hardships faced by teachers who have to endure many hardships due to the "ruthlessness of the rulers," and stated that the more teachers try, the more their natural rights are trampled upon by the rulers.
The statement said in part that teachers peacefully voice their demands, but instead "are insulted, imprisoned and tortured, humiliated, fired, and sentenced to flogging."
The statement added that the Coordination Council of Iranian Teachers' Unions, despite the pressures, insists on its demands - including free and quality education in schools and universities, the demands of employees and retirees, the acquittal and release of imprisoned teachers, education in the mother tongue, and the return to work of dismissed teachers.
In recent years, retired and working teachers and educators have repeatedly peacefully gathered to improve their working conditions and receive their demands, but they have been met with security crackdowns and arrests of activists from this group.
Mahmoud Beheshti, Mohammad Habibi, and Ismail Abdi are among the teachers who have been imprisoned for their union activities.
