Khadija Mehdipour, a political prisoner, was sent from Ilam Prison on Tuesday, July 28, for short-term medical leave.
According to HRANA News Agency, the news agency of the Human Rights Activists in Iran, on Tuesday, July 27, 2022, Khadija Mehdipour, a political prisoner, was sent on medical leave from Ilam Prison.
This 4-day medical expedition was conducted to treat Ms. Mehdipour's digestive and dental problems.
Ms. Mehdipour had previously been sent on short-term leave from Ilam Prison on May 1, and returned to prison on May 25, when her leave ended.
HRANA had previously reported on the lack of medical attention for Khadija Mehdipour. After much delay in transferring her to the hospital despite the appearance of a black spot in her eye, Ms. Mehdipour was finally sent to a hospital outside the prison on January 4, 1402, and after receiving glasses and eye drops, she was returned to the prison.
Khadija Mehdipour, a political prisoner serving her 20-month sentence in Ilam Prison without observing the principle of segregation of crimes, was beaten on Thursday, February 11, 2021, by a number of prisoners accused of violent crimes. This resulted in an injury to her eye.
In a report, HRANA examined the latest situation of this political prisoner in Ilam Prison and the pressure from security agencies to harass him by prisoners with public offenses.
Khadija Mehdipour was arrested by IRGC intelligence agents at her uncle's house on October 8, 2021, and transferred to Ilam Prison two days later.
He was ultimately tried by the Revolutionary Court on charges of "propaganda against the system, insulting the founder of the Islamic Republic, and insulting the leadership," and by applying Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code, the most severe punishment, namely 20 months in prison, can be applied to him.
Ms. Mehdipour was also acquitted of the charge of “supporting groups opposed to the regime.” According to an informed source, Ms. Mehdipour was told that she would not be eligible for parole or early release because she had not repented.
He has a history of arrests and convictions. He was arrested by security forces in Ilam on October 3, 2020, and was ultimately sentenced by the Ilam Revolutionary Court to pay a fine of three million tomans in lieu of imprisonment.
Khadija Mehdipour is 34 years old and lives in Ilam.
