Khadijeh Mahdi Pour, a political prisoner, was released on a short-term medical leave from Ilam Prison on Tuesday, June 28, 2022.
According to Hrana, the news agency of the Human Rights Activists in Iran, on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, Khadijeh Mahdi Pour, a political prisoner, was released from Ilam Prison on medical leave.
This medical leave was granted for a period of 4 days for the treatment of digestive and dental problems.
Mahdi Pour had previously been released on short-term medical leave on April 30, 2022, and returned to prison on May 14, 2022 when her leave ended.
Previously, Hrana had reported on the lack of medical attention to Khadijeh Mahdi Pour’s condition. Before this, after considerable delays in transferring her to a hospital despite the appearance of a black spot in her eye, she was finally transferred to a hospital outside the prison on December 4, 2021, and after receiving glasses and eye drops, was returned to prison.
Khadijeh Mahdi Pour, a political prisoner serving her 20-month sentence in Ilam Prison without observing the principle of segregation of crimes, was assaulted by several inmates convicted of violent crimes on Thursday, February 10, 2022. This incident resulted in an injury to her eye.
Hrana reported on the latest conditions of this political prisoner in Ilam Prison and the pressure exerted by security forces to harass and torture her by common criminals.
Khadijeh Mahdi Pour was arrested on October 9, 2021 by IRGC Intelligence officers at her uncle’s house and transferred to Ilam Prison after 2 days.
She was ultimately tried by the Revolutionary Court on charges of “propaganda against the system, insulting the founder of the Islamic Republic, and insulting the Supreme Leader” and under Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code, the maximum sentence of 20 months imprisonment is applicable to her case.
Mahdi Pour was also acquitted of the charge of “supporting groups opposed to the system.” According to an informed source, it was made clear to her that due to her lack of repentance, she would not be eligible for conditional release or early release.
She had prior arrest and conviction records. She was arrested on October 3, 2020 by security forces in Ilam and was ultimately sentenced by the Ilam Revolutionary Court to pay three million tomans in fines instead of imprisonment.
Khadijeh Mahdi Pour is 34 years old and a resident of Ilam.
