Fire at fishing port in Assaluyeh causes "50 billion tomans" of damage; seven cargo ships set ablaze

Seven cargo ships caught fire at the Nakhaltaqi fishing pier in Assaluyeh city and were completely burned. Initial damage estimates are around 50 billion tomans.
According to the Iranian Students News Agency, ISNA, citing Seyed Ali Hashemi, the governor of Asaluyeh County, the fire broke out "at around 3:30 AM" on Tuesday, February 10, and "two fiberglass boats and five wooden boats" were completely burned down.
Hashemi stated that "the cause of the accident is under investigation," adding that estimating the damage "requires expertise," but the estimated damage so far is "about 50 million tomans."
Jahangir Dehghani, Director General of Crisis Management for Bushehr Governorate, also said: "The high density and presence of barges exceeding the nominal capacity at the docks of Bushehr province is dangerous."
According to IRNA, according to Jahangir Dehghani, "The cause of the fire is still unknown, but the commercial vessels were empty and no one was injured in the incident."
Earlier, on Thursday, December 1, one person was killed and one was injured in a fire that broke out on four fishing boats in the port of Lengeh, Hormozgan province.
According to Ahmad Sheibani, the governor of Bandar Lengeh, after a fishing boat caught fire, the fire spread to neighboring boats. The damage from the fire was reported to be "12 billion tomans."
