Plane crash: Iranian government must pay at least "100 to 150 million dollars" in damages

Gholamali Jahangiri, deputy head of Iran's Central Insurance Agency, told ISNA that the damage from the Ukrainian plane crash is estimated at between $100 and $150 million, which will be paid by the Iranian government by agreement between the governments of the two countries.
The bulk of this damage is related to the fuselage of the aircraft. Mr. Jahangiri has said that if the damage is $100 million, $70 million of it is related to the fuselage of the aircraft.
Meanwhile, Mahmoud Khorram, Iran's former Minister of Roads and Transportation, told the "Tojarat News" publication that the incident will be "costly" for Iran and that it may take years for international airlines to trust Iranian skies.
He said he could not simply believe that Ali Abedzadeh, the head of the Iranian Civil Aviation Organization, had not noticed that the plane had been targeted.
According to Mr. Khorram, the head of the Civil Aviation Organization, "with 10 minutes of patrolling the accident site, he could have determined that the plane had been targeted."
Mr. Khorram said that in addition to the usual damages, Iran must "pay compensation to France as the manufacturer of the aircraft engine and to Boeing for the fall in stock value and damage to the brand."
