Ministry of Intelligence: 17 people arrested on charges of spying for the US

Iran's Ministry of Intelligence announced on Monday that it had arrested 17 people on charges of "spying for the CIA," and some of them have been sentenced to death.
According to ISNA news agency, the ministry announced that the Intelligence Ministry's Counterintelligence Deputy "succeeded in destroying a spy network linked to the US intelligence agency."
According to this report, these individuals have been sentenced and some of them will be executed as "corruptors on earth."
The director general of the Ministry of Intelligence's counter-espionage department, whose name was not disclosed, said that these individuals "operated in a cell in Iran and none of them had any connection with the other."
He announced: "The identified spies include employees of sensitive and vital centers, as well as the private sector related to these centers who were working as contractors or consultants."
According to this Iranian Ministry of Intelligence official, "These sensitive and vital centers include the country's economic, nuclear, military, and cyber fields."
He recalled that on June 18, the Ministry of Intelligence had announced that it had "succeeded in discovering and identifying a spy network."
Iran's Ministry of Intelligence announced on Tuesday, June 19, that it had recently "identified and destroyed a large spy network of the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA)."
Iranian Ministry of Intelligence officials have previously made similar statements on this matter.
For example, on April 20, Iranian Intelligence Minister Mahmoud Alavi claimed that 290 "CIA spies" had been identified in various countries during this project.
In 2011, the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence announced the identification of a "complex network of espionage and sabotage affiliated with the US intelligence agency" and the arrest of "30 American spies."
