Israeli President: Iran's dangerous attempt to acquire "nuclear weapons" must be stopped

Israeli President Isaac Herzog met with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson in London on Tuesday.

After meeting with the British Prime Minister, Herzog wrote on his Twitter account that Israel appreciates Britain's "firm" stance on Hamas, as well as "Iran's dangerous pursuit of nuclear weapons, which must be stopped."

The Israeli newspaper Haaretz also reported on the meeting, quoting the British Prime Minister, who told the Israeli President on Tuesday that "the world doesn't have much time."

The meeting took place a few days before the continuation of negotiations between world powers and Iran in Vienna. Iran and world powers are scheduled to hold the seventh round of negotiations to revive the JCPOA (the first round of negotiations under Ebrahim Raisi's government) on November 29.

According to Haaretz, the Israeli president told the British prime minister that Jerusalem hopes its allies will be "as firm as possible" in negotiations with Iran and that "only if all options are on the table can things move in the right direction."

Haaretz reports that Mr. Johnson said that Israel's point about Iran was well made and that "we are witnessing a situation where the world does not have much time."

Iran says it is not seeking nuclear weapons, but Israel says Iran's nuclear program is an existential threat to that country.
