A 14-year-old teenage girl, a victim of child marriage, killed her husband.
Child marriage refers to the marriage of girls below the age of puberty and sometimes even teenagers between 10 to 15 years old. Child marriage has enslaved many children and teenagers in Iran from the past to the present. Victims who had no right to make decisions about their future and lives, and due to financial, economic, and livelihood difficulties, consented to these marriages and married someone much older than themselves.
Today, Tuesday, June 2nd, another report was published on social media about the murder of a man by his 14-year-old wife, who had been a victim of child marriage. According to the published report, a young woman who was her husband’s second wife, with the help of another person, killed her husband.
The victim, identified as an Afghan national approximately 30 years old, was killed by knife wounds on the rooftop of a building in northern Tehran. According to statements by Vahid Naseri, the criminal prosecutor of Tehran, after being informed of the murder of this Afghan man, the criminal investigation team arrived at the scene, which was a 5-story building in the Vanak area.
The victim was the building superintendent and had worked at the said building for 3 years. According to statements from building residents, everyone was satisfied with his performance and the said person had no disputes with anyone. The criminal investigation team present at the scene, after reviewing footage recorded by security cameras, identified the details of this murder and the identity of those involved.
According to footage obtained from security cameras, the victim entered the building with his second wife, who was 14 years old and had recently married, and went to the superintendent’s room on the rooftop. A few hours later, around 5 a.m. on Monday morning, the superintendent’s wife, along with the victim’s 17-year-old nephew, left the building in fear and distress.
The victim’s nephew was the superintendent of the adjacent building and had accessed his uncle’s (the victim’s) home through the rooftop. The 14-year-old woman, along with the victim’s nephew, left the scene after this incident using the victim’s motorcycle. It should be noted that according to footage recorded by cameras, the victim’s nephew went to the parking lot in the middle of the night and brought a water hose to the rooftop.
Blood traces on the sole of the teenager’s shoe visible on the staircase indicate this murder was committed by two teenagers. Following observations by investigators from the 10th Bureau of Tehran Police Intelligence, investigations have begun to arrest the two fugitive suspects and determine their motive for this crime.
Additionally, complete information about the identity of this 14-year-old woman, who became a child marriage victim, is not available.
