File preparation in prison; court date set for hearing Reza Mohammad Hosseini's charges

The court hearing to investigate the charges against Reza Mohammad Hosseini, a political prisoner in Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj, regarding a new case opened against him during his imprisonment, will be held on March 25 in Branch 1165 of Criminal Court No. 2 of the Quds Judicial Complex in Tehran. Mr. Mohammad Hosseini's accusation in this case, which was opened with a complaint from the head of Evin Prison's intelligence and security, is that he insulted an officer while on duty. The first two sessions of this court were not held due to the plaintiff's absence.

According to HRANA News Agency, the news agency of the Human Rights Activists in Iran, the court hearing date has been set for the hearing of charges against Reza Mohammad Hosseini, a political prisoner in Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj, regarding a new case opened against him while he was in prison.

According to a notification that was sent to this citizen in recent days, the court hearing to investigate Reza Mohammad Hosseini's charges will be held on March 25, 2020, in Branch 1165 of the Criminal Court of the Second Judicial Complex of Quds, Tehran.

Reza Mohammad Hosseini, who was transferred from Evin Prison to Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj in mid-August of this year, was indicted on Sunday, October 26, in the case opened against him while he was in prison, when he appeared before Branch 3 of the Evin Prosecutor's Office, headed by Judge Hadi Samadpour, on the charge of "insulting an officer while on duty." The case was opened against him following a complaint filed by the head of Evin Prison's Information Protection and Security Department, Ali Salehi Garaaei. The first two sessions of this court were not held due to the plaintiff's absence.

Also, the trial of Reza Mohammad Hosseini's charges in another case was held on September 12 of this year in Branch 29 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Mohammad Reza Amouzad. His charge in this case is "propaganda activity against the regime."

Reza Mohammad Hosseini was arrested by security forces in May 2019 and after 3 months of interrogation, he was transferred from the IRGC Intelligence Detention Center, known as Ward 2A of Evin Prison, to the general ward of Evin Prison. He was later sentenced to a total of 16 and a half years in prison by the Tehran Revolutionary Court on charges of gathering and collusion, insulting the leadership, illegally crossing the border, illegally entering the country, and disobeying officers’ orders. This verdict was upheld in June 2019 on appeal by Branch 36 of the Tehran Provincial Court of Appeal, headed by Judge Ahmad Zargar Eina. Pursuant to Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code, the most severe punishment, namely 7 years of imprisonment, is applicable to him on charges of gathering and collusion.
