Six-Year Prison Sentence of ‘Hami Bahadori,’ 26-Year-Old Bahai Citizen in Evin Prison, Upheld by Appeals Court

The appeals court upheld the six-year prison sentence of ‘Hami Bahadori,’ a 26-year-old Bahai citizen in Evin Prison.
Hami Bahadori was arrested by security forces at his residence in Tehran on October 21, 2022. During the trial held on June 20, 2023, in Branch 15 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, Judge Solatati sentenced him to five years imprisonment on charges of assembly and collusion, one year imprisonment for propaganda against the regime under the guise of Bahai propaganda, for a total of six years of discretionary imprisonment and additional penalties.
In addition to the above sentence, he was sentenced to two years of travel ban and prohibition from engaging in cyber activities, as well as confiscation of all devices seized from his and his wife’s residence.
Hami Bahadori is currently serving his sentence in Ward 6 of Evin Prison, and his sentence was upheld in its entirety by the Tehran Province Appeals Court.
Religious minorities have been subjected to oppression by the ruling authority throughout history until now. Among these, Christians in Iran, along with Bahais, face extensive persecution by the authorities under the guise of measures against national security, and unjust sentences are issued against them.
