Counterfeit Beverage Poisoning Cases in Ahar Rise to 102; One Death Reported

Mehr News Agency, citing an informed source at Baqer al-Olum Hospital in Ahar, reported that the number of individuals poisoned by counterfeit alcoholic beverages has increased to 102, with one fatality.

 

The informed source announced that another poisoning victim also died at Sina Hospital in Tabriz, but this report has not yet been confirmed.

According to the report, 30 of these individuals underwent dialysis at Baqer al-Olum Hospital in Ahar, and 36 were transferred to Sina Hospital in Tabriz due to critical condition.

The informed source stated that these individuals range in age from 15 to 54 years old.

Hojjat Pour Fathi, Vice Chancellor of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences, reported on the fifth of Esfand that 28 people were poisoned due to consumption of homemade and counterfeit alcoholic beverages in Ahar city, with one person falling into a coma.

In the first week of Mehr, reports emerged of approximately one thousand people being poisoned due to consumption of alcoholic beverages across eight provinces in Iran.
