Judiciary Chief Responds to Judicial Employees’ Protests: Do Not Provide Pretext for Enemies’ Exploitation

The head of the Islamic Republic’s judiciary responded to recent protests by judicial employees, stating that efforts to equalize the salaries of judicial staff continue.

Gholamhossein Mohseni Eje’ei said on Monday, December 20, while emphasizing the pursuit of improving the payment situation for judicial employees, warned that “in the course of efforts to improve the payment situation, grounds should not be provided for misuse and exploitation by enemies.”

He also stated that since Ibrahim Raisi took office as president, efforts have been made to bring the salaries of all government employees closer together.

These remarks come as the Islamic Consultative Assembly (Parliament) opposed in its open session on December 15 the general provisions of a bill to determine special bonuses for judicial employees, which aimed to increase the salaries of judges and staff of the judiciary.

Following this, hundreds of judicial employees held protest gatherings in various cities, including in front of the Parliament building in Tehran, over the past Saturday and Sunday.
