Abbas Vahidian Shahrudi, Another Signatory of Khamenei Resignation Statement, Arrested

Continuing the arrests of signatories to the statement demanding the resignation of the Islamic Republic’s leader, reports now indicate the arrest of “Abbas Vahidian Shahrudi,” another signatory to this statement.
The official Telegram channel of 14 civil and political activists inside Iran confirmed this news, reporting that security forces on Sunday evening went to the home of “Abbas Vahidian Shahrudi,” one of the signatories of the statement known as the “14 People,” and arrested Mr. Shahrudi “while beating him in front of his family’s eyes” and transferred him to an unknown location.
Reza Mehregan, another signatory to the letter demanding resignation from Ayatollah Khamenei, also wrote on his Twitter account that following his arrest, he was transferred to “Mashhad Intelligence.”
Earlier, a group of political activists who had gathered in front of Mashhad Courthouse in protest of the 13-year prison sentence for “Kamal Jafari Yazdi” and were signatories to Khamenei’s resignation statement were arrested by police and security forces.
Houriya Farajzadeh, Javad Lal Mohammadi, Mohammad Hossein Sepehri, Abdolrasoul Mortazavi, Fatima Sepehri, Poran Nazemi, Hashem Khahvestar, and Mohammad Nourizad are among the arrested individuals who had previously signed the 14-person statement demanding Khamenei’s resignation, and some had previously received death threats.
The U.S. State Department says that over the past two years, the Iranian regime has arrested thousands of protesters, civil activists, and representatives of workers and other groups.
In Iran, any criticism of the Islamic Republic’s leader is punished with severe sentences.
The action against the authors of the letter demanding Khamenei’s resignation comes as, a few weeks after signing this letter, Reza Mehregan, one of the signatories, announced through a video posted on social media that he was attacked and beaten by unidentified individuals with a stun gun.
