Arian Tabatabai, Iranian-origin researcher, joins U.S. State Department team

Arian Tabatabai, an Iranian-origin researcher in political science, announced on Wednesday, February 19, through a tweet that she has joined the U.S. State Department team.
Ms. Tabatabai is a researcher at the RAND Corporation and director of a group and professor of security studies at Georgetown University.
She stated that she will work as a senior advisor to the Bureau of Arms Control, Verification and Compliance at the U.S. Department of State.
Ms. Tabatabai is a graduate of King’s College London and the daughter of Seyed Javad Tabatabai, a professor at the University of Tehran and researcher in the fields of philosophy, history, and politics.
She is also the author of the book “Neither Conquest Nor Defeat” about the Islamic Republic’s national security strategy, which was published in 2019.
Ms. Tabatabai’s research has focused mainly on the Middle East, particularly Iran, war, and terrorism.
