Farzaneh Ansarifar, Sister of November Protests Victim, Sentenced to 4.5 Years in Prison by Court

A human rights activist says Farzaneh Ansarifar has been sentenced to “four years and six months imprisonment” in a primary court. She is the sister of Farzad Ansarifar, one of those killed in the suppression of November 2019 protests in Behbahan.

Arash Sadeghi, a human rights activist, announced in a tweet that the verdict was issued by Branch 1 of the Mahshahr Islamic Revolutionary Court, and if confirmed, “three years and six months” of it would be enforceable.

Ms. Ansarifar is one of 19 civil activists from Behbahan who were arrested in June 2020, and their group trial was held on Monday, December 6 at the Mahshahr Islamic Revolutionary Court.

In recent days, her father and brother, Amin and Arman Ansarifar, have also been arrested in Behbahan.

The security and judicial pressure of the Islamic Republic on the families of complainants in Iran has increased.
