Poisoning Returns to Girls’ Schools

After months of suspension from such incidents in schools, student poisoning has returned to girls’ schools.

Following the poisoning of students at the Kawthar girls’ vocational school in Zanjan city, a number of students were transferred to several hospitals.

While nearly a year has passed since the chemical poisoning of girls in schools and investigation results regarding similar incidents in schools across the country have not yet been announced, Zanjan city witnessed a repeat of student poisoning yesterday. Following this poisoning incident, 67 students were hospitalized.

Yesterday, a report about poisoning of students at Kawthar vocational school was submitted to the Zanjan province education department, following which assessment teams arrived at the scene. According to statements by Hassan Asmkhani, director of public relations at Zanjan University of Medical Sciences, some students were transferred to Ayatollah Mousavi Hospital, some to Velayat Hospital, one student to Shahid Beheshti Hospital, and another student to Imam Hossein Hospital.

Hassan Asmkhani emphasized that the general condition of the students is currently good, with some already discharged and others to be discharged in the coming hours.

The director general of education in Zanjan province also emphasized that student health is among the priorities of Zanjan’s education department and added: “The causes of yesterday’s incidents are under investigation and results will be communicated to the public.”
