The IRGC, Basij, and Judiciary Will Now Play an Important Role in Tehran’s City Management

The Tehran Mayor, in an interview with Iran’s television news network, while referring to the formation of social command centers in city management, said: “The vision of the Municipality is to set a model, meaning we are trying to make Tehran, as a metropolis, a model for the Islamic world.”
He also said: “To manage the capital in a jihadi and Islamic manner, we have established five command centers where revolutionary institutions help the Municipality in the social command center to solve problems and issues.”
He noted: “In Tehran’s social command center, organizations and agencies such as the Governorate, County Administration, Welfare Organization, Relief Committee, Law Enforcement, IRGC, Basij, Anti-Narcotics Headquarters, Prison Organization, Prosecutor’s Office, Judiciary, Medical Science Universities, and Tehran Municipality are present. All these organizations work together to solve problems.”
Alireza Zakani, who during his tenure at Tehran Municipality has faced considerable criticism for employing unqualified personnel and relatives in city management positions, said in an interview with Iran’s television news network: “We stopped violations; God blessed our income at the Municipality.”
This comes as the news of Tehran Municipality’s decision to build walls between women and men in city parks turned into a controversial media discussion in Iranian media, but Alireza Zakani, without providing a clear answer to these rumors, said: “We intend to make fundamental infrastructure changes in public places in the southern areas of the city that will completely change the face of the city.”
