Urmia Prison: One Inmate Transferred to Solitary Confinement for Execution of Death Sentence

Hrana News Agency – Today, Wednesday, June 24, 2023, an inmate who was previously sentenced to death on murder charges was transferred to solitary confinement at Urmia Prison for execution of the sentence.

According to a report by Hrana News Agency, the news organ of the Iranian Human Rights Activists Network, today, Wednesday, June 24, 2023, an inmate at Urmia Prison was transferred to solitary confinement for the execution of a death sentence.

This inmate was previously sentenced to death on murder charges.

Further details regarding this matter, including the identity of the inmate, are currently being investigated by Hrana.

According to the annual report of the Statistics, Publishing and Documentation Center of the Iranian Human Rights Activists Network in 2022, a total of 457 reports were recorded, including death sentences for 92 individuals, of which 6 were sentenced in public, and execution of death sentences for 565 people. Of this amount, 2 death sentences were carried out in public. Additionally, 5 individuals who were under 18 years old at the time of committing the alleged crime, legally referred to as child offenders, were among those executed this year.
