Political prisoner Narges Mohammadi diagnosed with cancer

Narges Mohammadi, a political prisoner and Nobel Peace Prize winner, has been diagnosed with cancer.
Mostafa Nili, the lawyer for Narges Mohammadi, announced that she has cancer. Last night, November 4, he posted a message on the social network X, writing: "Initial tests indicate that there is a bone lesion in the area of Narges Mohammadi's right leg, and according to the results of the MRI, this lesion is suspected to be cancerous. In order to examine and determine whether it is malignant or not, a surgical biopsy is needed, which should be performed as soon as possible."
Narges Mohammadi's lawyer also added about her condition: "In addition to the suspected cancerous lesion, Narges is also suffering from several other diseases and physical ailments, including advanced arthritis, disc diseases, and digestive problems."
Narges Mohammadi, 52, a Nobel Peace Prize laureate who has spent more than a decade in prison, has been sentenced to a total of more than 36 years in prison. In addition, the Islamic Republic of Iran’s judicial authorities have opened new cases against her and issued new sentences during her imprisonment.
Last week, on November 26, Narges Mohammadi's husband, Taghi Rahmani, in addition to publishing the news of her illness, wrote on his personal Instagram page: "Narges Mohammadi has been transferred to the hospital with the support of civil society and human rights activists, under pressure from the international community and the media."
In addition to criticizing the authorities and officials of the Islamic Republic, he continued: "This 9-week delay and the long years of enduring prison have caused serious damage to Narges' health and life, which requires a course of treatment and serious attention."
Her family, reacting to their child's critical condition, said last week: "Finally, after 9 weeks, Narges was transferred to a hospital in Tehran due to numerous physical problems and then transferred back to prison."
