Accident in Sistan and Baluchestan leaves six dead and seven injured

Six people were killed and seven injured in a three-vehicle accident on the Khash-Zahedan road on the evening of Thursday, February 11.
According to Jalal Hashemzehi, head of the Khash Red Crescent Society, the incident occurred at around 9:00 PM on Friday evening on the Khash-Zahedan highway.
No information has been released about the causes of the accident, but Mr. Hashemzehi, referring to fatal traffic accidents on the two-way road between Dejang and the Khash transit axis to Zahedan, has requested that "measures be taken to double the lanes or fix the defects that cause accidents on this axis."
On April 23 of this year, a three-car accident on the Zahedan-Khas road left 14 dead and 9 injured.
The Iranian Traffic Police cite human factors, road problems, and vehicle technical defects as the most important causes of road fatalities in the country, in that order.
According to the country's Forensic Medicine Organization's announcement in mid-December of this year, the number of deaths in accidents in the country in the first 7 months of this year was 10,087 people, of whom 2,477 died in urban accidents and 6,966 in road accidents.
Iran is one of the deadliest countries in the region in terms of traffic accidents. The highest number of road accidents in Iran in the last two decades was in 2005, with 27,000 deaths per year. According to an official estimate, between 2011 and 2019, an average of more than 17,000 people were killed on Iranian roads annually.
