File-Making in Prison; Court Hearing Date Set for Reza Mohammadhasani’s Charges

The court hearing to examine the charges against Reza Mohammadhasani, a political prisoner at Rajaei Shahr Prison in Karaj, regarding a new case opened against him during his detention, will be held on March 24 in Branch 1165 of the Criminal Court of Qods Judicial Complex in Tehran. Mr. Mohammadhasani’s charge in this case, which was opened on the complaint of the head of information and security of Evin Prison, has been cited as insulting an official during the performance of duty. The first two sessions of this court did not take place due to the complainant’s absence.

According to HRANA, the news agency of the Human Rights Activists News Group in Iran, the court hearing date for examining the charges against Reza Mohammadhasani, a political prisoner at Rajaei Shahr Prison in Karaj, regarding a new case opened against him during his detention, has been set.

Based on a notice served to this citizen in recent days, the court hearing to examine the charges against Reza Mohammadhasani will be held on March 24, 1399 in Branch 1165 of the Criminal Court of Qods Judicial Complex in Tehran.

Reza Mohammadhasani, who was transferred from Evin Prison to Rajaei Shahr Prison in Karaj in mid-August of this year, on Sunday, September 27, regarding this case opened against him during his detention, appeared at Branch 3 of the Investigation Section of Evin Prosecutor’s Office headed by Judge Hadi Samadpour and was informed of the charge of “insulting an official during the performance of duty.” This case was opened on the complaint of the head of information and security of Evin Prison, Ali Salahi Graei, against him. The first two sessions of this court did not take place due to the complainant’s absence.

Additionally, the court hearing to examine Reza Mohammadhasani’s charges regarding another case was held on September 13 of this year in Branch 29 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court headed by Judge Mohammad Reza Amoozad. His charge in this case has been cited as “propaganda activity against the system.”

Reza Mohammadhasani was arrested by security forces in May 2019 and after three months, following the completion of interrogation from the IRGC Intelligence Detention Center, known as Section 2-A of Evin Prison, was transferred to the public ward of Evin Prison. He was later sentenced by the Tehran Revolutionary Court for charges of gathering and conspiracy, insulting the leader, illegal border crossing, unauthorized entry into the country, and disobedience to officials to a total of 16 and a half years imprisonment. This sentence was upheld in June 2020 in the appeal stage by Branch 36 of the Tehran Provincial Court of Appeals headed by Judge Ahmad Zargar. Based on Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code, the most severe punishment, namely 7 years of discretionary imprisonment for the charge of gathering and conspiracy, is enforceable for him.
