19-Year-Old Mehdi Mohammadifard in Danger of Execution

“Mehdi Mohammadifard,” detained in Nowshahr, is at risk of execution.

“Mehdi Mohammadifard,” a 19-year-old hairdresser and tattoo artist in Nowshahr, has been detained and sentenced to death twice on charges of setting fire to a police kiosk.

Mehdi has been detained for more than three months, but reports of his torture in prison have only recently been released. Mehdi’s detention involved severe beatings and violence that resulted in his nose being broken.

After his arrest, he slept on the ground for 3 days in a solitary cell that was extremely filthy and infested with cockroaches and rats. This is just one of the tortures inflicted on Mehdi. According to information from Amnesty International regarding his condition, not only has Mehdi been subjected to severe torture for forced confessions, but he has also suffered injuries and rectal bleeding as a result of sexual assault. Due to these injuries and bleeding, he spent one day in a hospital outside the prison and was returned to prison before recovering.

Mehdi’s fellow citizens have stated that according to his family’s statements, his death sentence has been issued, and the least we can do for him and his family is to make his voice heard around the world, and we must do everything we can to prevent the execution of this sentence.

Mehdi is not the only protester who has been detained and is at risk of execution; many other young people, some of whom are even underage, are held in captivity by the Islamic Republic government and are fighting for their lives against the danger of death.

Only the unity and solidarity of the people and the unquenching of the revolutionary uprising can save the lives of prisoners held by the Islamic Republic regime and lead to the overthrow of this criminal regime.
