A Medical System Official: Number of Doctors in Tehran is Ten Times That of Sistan and Baluchestan Province

The technical deputy of Tehran’s medical system says the number of doctors in the capital is ten times that of Sistan and Baluchestan province.
Ali Debagh told ISNA news agency that according to official statistics from the Medical System Organization in Sistan and Baluchestan, on average there are six doctors per ten thousand people working in the province.
This is while, according to him, in Tehran on average there are around seventy doctors per ten thousand people active.
Mr. Debagh emphasized that one of the solutions to create balance across all provinces of the country is to increase the income of doctors in deprived areas.
According to him, each doctor needs at least a 12-member team consisting of nurses, pharmacists, laboratory staff, operating room personnel, and others to carry out their work, and they too must have adequate income.
In recent years, several thousand Iranian doctors and nurses have migrated to neighboring countries, Europe, and America, and according to health ministry officials, the country faces a shortage of skilled personnel in some medical specialties.
